A very enjoyable day with Thread Counts at the University of Gloucestershire and the Hardwick Gallery in Cheltenham.

Lou Baker talking about her installation
I was revisiting old work and old ground with my piece 'Pressure Front' in the exhibition but it was a really valuable experience to do this. For me, ideas and creativity goes in circles and it was motivating to re-examine the sustainability of fashion as an issue to make work from. The day began with an introduction about sustainability at the University - who have put it at the core of all that they do. We heard from the leader of sustainability as well as the leaders of the fashion and product design courses. We then launched straight into a group discussion surrounded by the work in the gallery, led by the curator. It was great to get stuck into debating and hearing from students, other artists and participants in the day. I particularly enjoyed the talk about the emotions surrounding clothes by and with Lou Baker  as it resonated strongly with my own work and experiences.
