The premiere of the Poetry + Video curated programme took place in May in Murwillumbah, Australia.
An hour-long collection, put together by curator Marie Craven, it surveys diverse contemporary expressions of this hybrid form. A wide range of approaches includes: screen adaptations of page poetry, prose poetry, poetry from found text and media, animations, poetic cinema, text-on-screen, and spoken word.

I am taking on the role of UK manager, and am currently seeking UK venues to screen the programme.

Director of the Zebra Poetry Film Festival in Berlin gave the keynote speech in the Poetry Film strand of the MIX Conference at Bath Spa University.

I gave my short paper next: "95 words / 625 images / 25 seconds" talking about comparisons between typography and my process of flicker film making. And was followed by Mary McDonald, Natasha Boskic & Mohamad Kebbewar; Chaucer Cameron; and Sarah Tremlett to make up the Poetry Film panel.

So many fascinating contributions were given over the two days - particularly interesting were Stella Wisdom and Rosie Garland in the Ethics of Storytelling panel, and Alastair Ellbeck and Sarah Ciston in the Ambient Literature panel.

Northwest Film Forum in Seattle, USA holds Cadence: Video Poetry Festival in April, a collaboration between poetry and film curated by Seattle writer Chelsea Werner-Jatzke.
Happy to say that 'Being and being empty' was selected to show as part of the 'Full Cadence' programme - "
A selection of video poetry from the Cadence open call for entries in four categories: Adaptations/Ekphrasis (judged by Shawn Levy), Collaboration (judged by John Bresland), Video by Poets (judged by Sarah Minor), and Poetry by Video Artists (judged by Claudia Castro Luna). "

A new touring programme of shorts from around the world curated by Marie Craven launches today. Poetry + Video is an hour-long collection of films which surveys diverse contemporary expressions of poetry in video. A wide range of approaches includes: screen adaptations of page poetry, prose poetry, animations, poetry from found text and media, poetic cinema, text-on-screen, and spoken word.

I'm very pleased to say that it includes my film 'Glitter' created with Lucy English for her project 'The Book of Hours', and also a second film from that project: 'Things I found in the Hedge' by Kathryn Darnell.

The premiere screening will be on 4 May, 2019 at Garden Gallery, Murwillumbah, Australia. See the program itinerary for more details, including the outstanding live poets performing on the night.

Marie says that: "The program is designed to be highly portable, and easily obtainable on request to screening spaces in any location."
