Coming up next month - Lisbon Film Rendezvous on 4-5th October.
Each session of short films will be followed up with Q&A, discussing storytelling and film craft. This is the Winter edition of the event, held in the Lisbon Art Center & Studios. I am very pleased to say Being and Being Empty will be screened.

New York City Poetry Festival are showing every one of the Visible Poetry Project films from the 2019 season.
The festival is on the lovely gem Governors Island, on the 27th & 28th July. My film in 2019 is 'letter - to anyone who is listening' by Doyali Islam from her book 'Heft' published by McClelland & Stewart Letter from Visible Poetry Project on Vimeo.
The premiere of the Poetry + Video curated programme took place in May in Murwillumbah, Australia.
An hour-long collection, put together by curator Marie Craven, it surveys diverse contemporary expressions of this hybrid form. A wide range of approaches includes: screen adaptations of page poetry, prose poetry, poetry from found text and media, animations, poetic cinema, text-on-screen, and spoken word. I am taking on the role of UK manager, and am currently seeking UK venues to screen the programme.
So pleased and excited to announce that my film of Natalie Whittaker's poem 'Moss' recently won third prize in the Oxford Brookes Poetry Centre and Ignition Press poetry film competition.
Congratulations to the other prize winners Gabrielle Turner and Marie Craven for their wonderful films of Patrick James Errington's poem Half Measures. A screening event is planned for October.
US entertainment website Shondaland (by Shonda Rhimes the creator of Grey's Anatomy) - has been featuring a selection of films from this year's Visible Poetry Project collection.

I'm very pleased to say that it includes my film 'Glitter' created with Lucy English for her project 'The Book of Hours', and also a second film from that project: 'Things I found in the Hedge' by Kathryn Darnell. The premiere screening will be on 4 May, 2019 at Garden Gallery, Murwillumbah, Australia. See the program itinerary for more details, including the outstanding live poets performing on the night. Marie says that: "The program is designed to be highly portable, and easily obtainable on request to screening spaces in any location." |
